Zero-Knowledge

What does the Transactional Protection mean?

With RBL, there are two sorts of addresses: Shielded and Transparent. RBL -Shielded addresses stay secret, and every transaction involving RBL-Shielded addresses keeps the address, transaction amount, and any Encrypted Memo field information entirely concealed. Any transactions between RBL-Transparent addresses and other addresses are entirely public accessible on the RBL blockchain, meaning addresses and amounts are visible at all times.

What is a Viewing Key?

A shielded address owner has the option of sharing their shielded address and transaction data with any trustworthy third parties. This is done through the use and sharing of specific view keys.

Proof of Stake

What is a Proof of Stake?

Proof of Stake is a new consensus technique that is used to generate a new group of trustless transactions (the so-called block) on the blockchain, a distributed ledger. In the new era of digital currencies, something needs to support the generation of the coins, and Proof of Stake is that something. In comparison to Proof of Work currencies like Bitcoin or Monero, it is the most environmentally friendly means of obtaining (staking) crypto while proof of work consumes more energy than a small country. RBL consumes a fraction of the energy that Bitcoin and Monero do, thus allowing more energy for better uses.

What are the advantages of PoS over PoW?

RBL is considerably easier and less expensive to participate in the network and get rewards than PoW cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Monero. You may stake with as little as 1 RBL, and RBL’s Cold Staking allows you to keep your energy and hardware expenditures to a minimum.

What is Staking?

To assist the network achieve consensus of proof of stake, you must prove the legitimacy of every transaction on the network. Staking is the practise of locking your coins for a specified time period in order to do this validation. Stakers who mint the next block are paid with a block reward in exchange.

How does Staking work?

When a user has at least one RBL in their fully synchronized RBL core wallet, that node is allowed to join in the network with the equivalent amount of stake. RBL  has a sophisticated Proof of Stake mechanism that successfully protects the network from malicious attackers. This allows RBL owners to earn block rewards just by assisting in the network’s security. Anyone who possesses RBL has the ability to stake and earn rewards.

With Proof of Stake, how can I get RBLs as a reward?

It’s straightforward. RBLs may be purchased on the exchange, transferred to your wallet, held, and then unlocked for staking. The more coins you have in your wallet, the better your chances of receiving a reward.

Cold Staking

What is the difference between cold and hot staking?

Hot staking is a staking method that needs the wallet containing your coins to remain online 24 hours a day, seven days a week in order to collect rewards. Cold Staking enables you to delegate your RBL to a staking node without providing them with your RBL. This allows you to safely stake without having to keep your RBL wallet online.

What does delegating RBLs for Cold Staking imply?

Delegating allows for your selected cold staker address to stake on your behalf without having access to your funds. You can safely leave your wallet offline after delegating and still receive RBL.

What makes Cold Staking better than Hot Staking?

Cold staking does not require time and attention to monitor the status of your wallet and staking. Additionally, because your wallet does not need to be turned on, you are not consuming any additional electricity. When using 3rd party services to provide cold staking, it is important to remember that you are completely reliant on the parties who provide you cold staking, and that there are a variety of variables to consider, including security, service fees, and hot wallet node uptime. Keep in mind that if a third-party hot wallet goes offline, you are no longer staking.

Masternodes

What is a Masternodes?

A Masternode is a specially designed wallet that helps the network in more ways than a regular staking wallet. Because these tasks need 1000 RBLs to begin, the user is paid for both sustaining the network and locking the collateral.

What are the benefits of running a Masternode?

Holding Masternodes is financially incentivized by earning more RBL every block compared to stakers who receive a lower block reward. The masternode payout is 50% of block reward, whereas the staking reward is 40% of block reward. Masternode holders also acquire the opportunity to participate in the Rebel DAO by voting on proposals that are put forth by other members of the network.

What does it mean to lock coins as Masternode collateral?

Your 1000 RBL is still completely under your control, but if the amount goes below 1000 RBL, your masternode will stop and you will no longer earn block rewards. The 1000 locked RBLs simply serve as collateral, allowing you and your masternode server to secure the RBL network.

What are the minimum requirements for hardware?

It is suggested that the system running the RBL wallet have 2GB RAM, although 1GB RAM with 1GB swap would suffice. The RBL blockchain is just 18GB in size, however it is suggested that you have at least 30GB of free storage space for future use.  Furthermore, the network may be run on a single core CPU. With these modest needs, the complete network may be run on a Raspberry Pi 2GB RAM model.

Governance

Why does Rebel have a "Governance" at all?

We believe that if you are your own bank, you should have a say in where the bank goes. Voting in our DAO/Governance might result in significant or little changes, exactly as in real life. As a result, we believe it is critical to act in the best interests of everyone who participates and has an opportunity to do so. To make sure that our users know that we are stable and trustworthy, we have implemented full transparency in the RBL treasury so that users may vote on how the funds should be used.

What exactly is a DAO, and how does it work?

DAO is an acronym that stands for Decentralized Autonomous Organization. It is an organisation whose rules are defined in a code. Rebel DAO is managed by the Rebel community using a voting process in which one Masternode equals one vote. The community may vote on the proposals they wish to support in order to receive the service offered in a proposal.

What can I vote on in the Governance?

As a masternode holder, any proposal that is submitted may be voted on. The proposals include a wide range of topics, including marketing, commerce, development, community management, and governance initiatives.

How do I vote?

You cast your vote with your wallet. You can discuss and read about the proposals that are up for voting in the Forum. Actual voting will take place in the wallet.

Economics

How fast is an RBL transaction?

Transactions on the RBL blockchain are extremely quick. Payments are completed within < 1 second and may be used after 6 confirmations (~6 minutes).

How much is a RBL Transaction?

RBL has the lowest transaction fees (average 0.0001 sender “cost” per transaction). These fees are burnt from the total coin supply, reducing inflation and increasing the coin value.
