Frequently asked

Questions

What is a Masternodes?

A Masternode is a specially designed wallet that helps the network in more ways than a regular staking wallet. Because these tasks need 1000 RBLs to begin, the user is paid for both sustaining the network and locking the collateral.

What are the benefits of running a Masternode?

Holding Masternodes is financially incentivized by earning more RBL every block compared to stakers who receive a lower block reward. The masternode payout is 50% of block reward, whereas the staking reward is 40% of block reward. Masternode holders also acquire the opportunity to participate in the Rebel DAO by voting on proposals that are put forth by other members of the network.

What does it mean to lock coins as Masternode collateral?

Your 1000 RBL is still completely under your control, but if the amount goes below 1000 RBL, your masternode will stop and you will no longer earn block rewards. The 1000 locked RBLs simply serve as collateral, allowing you and your masternode server to secure the RBL network.

What are the minimum requirements for hardware?

It is suggested that the system running the RBL wallet have 2GB RAM, although 1GB RAM with 1GB swap would suffice. The RBL blockchain is just 18GB in size, however it is suggested that you have at least 30GB of free storage space for future use.  Furthermore, the network may be run on a single core CPU. With these modest needs, the complete network may be run on a Raspberry Pi 2GB RAM model.
